Belize City is the largest city with the largest population center of approximately 150,000 as per unofficial estimates. It is the old capital of Belize, but still remains as the commercial and financial capital of the country and also the country’s principal port of entry.
Boarding party for yachts to clear inbound in Belize City comprises of 5 to 7 persons, namely Customs, Immigration, Health, Quarantine, Belize Port Authority and an additional official from the Port of Belize Limited if a pilot is used and a representative of Ventura Yacht Agency if their services is used.
Officials will need to be picked up from their offices or homes and returned. The officials normally insist, as per regulation on visiting aboard the vessel for inbound clearance. Yacht will need to supply tender to transfer officials to and from the yacht for inbound clearance. Should the arrival documentation be in order boarding should take approximately 30 to 40 minutes.
Normal working hours is Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 17:00.
